Philippe Malouin for Matter Made

The Arca was a product of collaboration between Matter Made and Philippe Malouin. As Matter Made’s lead lighting designer I was entrusted with bringing this concept to reality. Utilizing advancements in LED technology and manufacturing techniques I was able to stay true to the design intent that would not be possible in previous years. The fixture as seen below can be "configured" in different ways mixing and matching the various tier sizes as desired for the intended space. Since its release in 2017 the fixture has been extremely successful and continues to be with the most recent release of the fourth tier version in 2018.

Arca Desk

The Arca desk lamp was designed as part of the Arca series of fixtures. Designed in two version, The first is a clamp lamp able to clamp onto any surface up to 3 inches thick. The second version can be incorporated into any surface that can accept a 5/16 inch hole. I was able to incorporate Capacitance ( touch ) dimmer in the form of a discrete cylinder on the cord and as a single 3/8 inch button that sits flush on your desk. The Led used is extremely efficient and can be run safely up to 3-5 watts equivalent to 30-50W incandescent packed into a 1 inch glass sphere.
